Nokia, Pearson to offer English education service in China …
HELSINKI (February 08 2010): Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia and British publisher Pearson have
joined forces to bring English language learning materials to Chinese cellphone users, Nokia said on February 1. "China is the world's largest mobile phone market and the country with the largest number of people learning English," John Fallon, chief executive of Pearson's international education business said in the Nokia statement.
The joint venture, called Beijing Mobiledu Technologies, brings Pearson's expertise in education to the Mobiledu mobile English-language educational service Nokia launched in 2007. Mobiledu has some 20 million subscribers in China, Nokia said.
